WP 3.8 media gallery in new posts is empty despite images being present.

    I have two WP installations (same host) just updated to 3.8. In one everything works fine, for the other when adding new images to a post the “Add media” button brings up a blank gallery. I can install images into the media gallery directly and link to them in the new post but not add them as I should be able to from the edit page. As i said, the other blog works fine. I have re-installed WP3.8 and deactivated and reactivated plug ins – has no effect and anyway, they have the same set of plug-ins.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Changing the theme did not make any difference.

    Deactivating all plug-ins (previously I had done them one by one) and then adding them back individually fixed it though there was no relationship to any particular plug-in but presumably one was at faults and deactivating/reactivating set it right.

    Thanks for helping … your other two suggestions would have been beyond me.

    I’m having this exact same issue, have tried everything listed above by esmi, to no avail.
