    Hi,

The title says it all. As many other users, I am getting http errors when I upload jpg images (sizes I tested ranged from < 32 ko to > 2 Mo) since I upgraded from 3.4.2 to 3.5.

It happens on my 3 wordpress installs on the same server. The upload bar stops at the end of the upload process, and although the full-size image is actually uploaded despite the error message, the small-sized copies of the image are not created. I tried disabling all plugins, switching to TwentyTwelve theme and auto-reinstalling wordpress 3.5 from the backend. No change.

However, I can upload png images flawlessly ! The small-sized copies are created, I can insert the png images in posts and pages without any issue.

Here is an ugly copy/paste of my phpinfo result on pastebin.com, in case anything helps.

Thank you very much for any kind of support!

    Best regards,

    Cyril

  • Have you tried checking your server’s error logs?

I have. Unfortunately, no error today (I hoped I would be able to find memory or related issues).

Have you asked your hosts about their mod_security settings?

    (@lecyril)

I just asked, they answered that mod_security is deactivated.
    Thanks for trying ??

Check that the latest versions of GD Library and ImageMagick are available on your server.

My host says they are up to date, but I do not know where to check. Imagemagick.org says the latest one is 6.8.1-0. I will check with my host again.

esmi, thank you again for your time. My host told me that imagemagick is effectively obsolete on their server and that they will install 6.8.1-0 within a few days. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Another thing I can add is that I can upload mp3 files (tested with a massive 16.3 Mo mp3) without problem, as for png. I also tried to switch to the old “browser upload” in media library-add new media, but this gives the same result : png and mp3 are ok, whereas jpg produce an error :

    503 Service Unavailable
The server is temporarily busy, try again later! Powered By LiteSpeed Web Server

Does this ring a bell ?

Hopefully I will be able to close this topic one the updated version of imagemagick is installed on the server!

This definitely sounds like a server issue – not a WordPress one – and seems to be a problem with image processing rather than actual uploading. Do your hosts have anything to offer on it?

    Hi esmi,

[resolved], yay ! You were spot on: upgrading imagemagick did the trick, and I can now upload any kind of images again.

Thank you very much for all the time you invest on these forums for us, and especially for my unusual issue ??

    Have a nice holiday time,

    Cytil
