WP 3.5 broke orphan Karma theme. Any quick fix?

    Background first: My client bought the Karma theme and I helped him build the look of his site around its many features. Last week the upgrade to WP 3.5.1 caused it to revert to Twenty Twelve and to display this message:
    The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
    Name Description
    Karma Template is missing.

    The site is dhenoble.com.

    Consequently, photos are missing, the home page looks bad, and he knows the best long-term option is to create a child theme out of Twenty Twelve so we can style it how we want to.

    However, (here comes the question) this is the week after a show and he’s getting lots of traffic. Is there any way to either (a) revert temporarily to earlier WP, or (b) figure out what’s making Karma look broken and tweak that?

    The client’s a great guy and I’d like to ease his pain if possible.

  • I’m sorry but as your client is using a commercial theme, you need to seek support from the theme’s developer/vendor. We do not support commercial themes here.

    Thanks for responding but I may not have made it clear that Karma is no longer supported. The developer took a hike. And I understand that commercial theme support is not what you do. Not asking for that kind of help. Really, all I want to know (fairly sure the answer is “no”) is, can WP be rolled back to earlier version?

    1, Unless you can also restore an appropriate database backup you cannot roll back to a previous version of WordPress due to database changes.

    2. Rolling back to an older version of WordPress will expose the site to a significant risk of being hacked. So it is not something we would ever recommend.
