• So I did a site for a client in 2.3.3 on my test server. Before we “went live” on his site, he wanted to upgrade to 2.5.1 – so I did that on my test server. Everything went fine, he finished putting in content, etc., then we ported the site over to his server the other day.

For some reason, when you log into his admin area – the admin screen comes up fine, but when you log in, it redirects to a blank white page instead of the dashboard.

This is a clean installation, just with the database and files from the site on my server. Yet the dashboard is a blank white page.

So I found this fix and I’m wondering if there’s any repercussions to doing this. It definitely worked – the dashboard is back – but you have to comment out line 7 of the wp-admin/index.php file (“wp_dashboard_setup();”). Is this a bad thing to do?

  • Thank you!! Been searching for this fix. Worked on two different sites on two different servers (squid and a private one) that broke after upgrading.

Well, glad it worked for you – I’ve used it a couple more times, myself. I just hope there’s no repercussions from doing it! ??
