I have a successful feed at https://oops-hq.us/aerie so I know how to install WP and how to use FeedBurner.

I’ve been trying to create this feed for 3 days now. I’ve reinitialized my database at GoDaddy at least a half-dozen times. Each time, I have reinstalled WordPress 2.3.1 from scratch. Obviously, the DB_NAME, DB_USER, DB_HOST and DB_PASSWORD are all correct.

When I try to create the feed, I get the following:

    Sorry

    This feed does not validate.

    *

line 1, column 1: Blank line before XML declaration [help]

    ^

    *

line 35, column 1: XML parsing error: <unknown>:35:1: not well-formed (invalid token) [help]

    </object></layer></table></body></html><adsok>
    ^

In addition, interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendations.

    *

Feeds should not be served with the “text/html” media type [help]

    *

    line 33, column 1: Missing atom:link with rel=”self” [help]

    </channel>
    ^

    Source: https://kestrelsaerie.us/?feed=rss2

First question: WHAT FILE is this reporting (and WHY doesn’t it say so anywhere on the page?). I’ve looked at approximately 40 different files trying to find the syntax described so I can correct it, and I simply don’t see it.

To emphasize: I’ve looked at the following with no effect (and there are no active plugins; this is with both the Default theme and the Munch-1.0 theme):

    Solution

    * Check your wp-rss2.php and wp-atom.php files for blank lines outside of bracketed sections.
    * Check your wp-config.php file for blank lines outside of bracketed sections.
    * Check your theme’s functions.php file for blank lines outside of bracketed sections.

Second question: WHY is the problem occurring in the first place? Is WordPress 2.3.1 incompatible with FeedBurner? Does it have a problem with the feed being in the root of the site?

I’m really getting quite frustrated with this, and I’ll be very thankful for any insight.

It doesn’t work on godaddy free hosting because of their frame with the ads.

I was sure I paid for hosting…but when I look at the site in IE (instead of AdBlocked Firefox) I certainly see the ads.

    Thanks, moshu…driving me batty!!!

At GoDaddy, when you buy hosting, they give you ‘free website’ tokens but the free ones come with ads.

Is there anyway to make the feed work on the Free Godaddy hosting?
