WP 2.2–where do the widgets go?

Really dumb question here but I can’t seem to find the info anywhere.
Where do you place 3rd party widgets now that there is no Widgets folder any longer? All widget type plugins prior to WP 2.2 were required to be placed in the wp-content/plugins/widgets folder (from Automattics widgets plugin) which no longer exists with the incorporation of widgets into the WP 2.2 core.

Am I missing something obvious here? I can’t help but think that I am. I do depend on a few 3rd party widgets for my sidebar.
