• Hello,

I am using word press 2.0.1 now, and I have a set of posts that I would like to appear at a future date, now that’s set…My question relates to the ping option, does WP 2.0.1 ping when the post is published yet saved for a future date, or does it ping when shown on the blog?

I would like it to ping when shown on the blog rather than published, if WP 2.0.1 doesn’t do this, any way around it?

    Thanks!

  • Well, there is this plugin: https://www.skippy.net/blog/category/wordpress/plugins/wp-cron/

It seems to work for alot of people, BUT me. Anyone have another future ping fix plugin that does this, or know that it’s already fixed in WP 2.0.1? Any way i can check when a post is getting pinged (a simple ping checker)?

(problem with the wp-cron is that I’ve tested the wp-cron email reminder and it sent me about 20 sixty minute reminder emails every minute.. so im not sure the wp-cron future ping plugin works)

    I accomplish by indirection… ??

I signed up to let Feedburner.com take care of my RSS feeds (and provide some stats). There’s a couple plugins to help make this very simple for wordpress.

Feedburner appears to check every 30 minutes or so to see if I have any new posts up. There’s an option there to have THEM do all the pinging to the other services when it discovers a new post.

So, worst case, my new post notification lags by 30 minutes. I thought that was pretty tolerable. ??

hm that doesnt sound too bad.. so let me get this straight:

Feedburner doesnt update when you create the post unlike the ping list in the wordpress admin, but only once the post actually appears on the blog? And then they ping the several sites you place in a pinglist created at feedburner?

Oh and if anyone has another solution, like a plugin, that would be great.

Right, until then it isn’t in my RSS feed that FB uses as a source.

And then they ping the several sites you place in a pinglist created at feedburner?

    Yup.

This is the plugin I use: https://orderedlist.com/articles/wordpress-feedburner-plugin/

Also recently saw a post about another one that, at first glance, appears even easier to use: https://flagrantdisregard.com/feedburner/

hey, thanks for the links! The last one is an older version of the one thats not working, testing it now, but i think i go for the feedburner feed… Thanks again man, gonna try it!
