wp 1.5 category problem

when i upgrade my wp 1.2 to 1.5 i get an error in my writing section on category selection. this is the error;
“WordPress database error: [Unknown column ‘cat_id’ in ‘field list’]
SELECT cat_id FROM wp_categories WHERE category_parent = 0 ORDER BY cat_name”

how can i fix this? please help
