WP & Google Adsense

  • I have WP installed with 3-column format. My Adsense code is in the far right column.

    Unfortunately, it is only showing links to “blog-related” sites, and my site is about fitness/weightloss. And the word “blog” doesn’t appear on the site. “WordPress” only appears at the bottom in the credits…

    I’ve tried adding key words all over the page, however, it isn’t making a differnce. (once I click on an individual blog entry, Adsense pulls relevant links, but just not on the main page.)

    Any advice?

    You’ll have to check with Google’s people about this.

    Been using Adsense on my sites (WP, CPG-Nuke, php-Nuke, HTML, etc…) since the beginning of the program. I’ve been round and round asking questions about the ads.

    I filtered sites and content…etc…

    According to Google it takes page content to determine the ads, yet no matter what kind of content I put on it, it seems to look at the page description and keywords to supply the ads, thus……blogs and blog related links on my WP sites.

    Waaaa.

    If I get a handle on it, or if someone else already has, I’m sure we’ll get the heads up on it.

    All I did is paste the adsense code in after

    <body><br />
    <div id="rap"><br />
    <h1 id="header"><a>"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>

    However, when I upgraded another blog to WP 1.5 the other day, it stopped working.

    It’s working fine for me at https://www.himysk.com . I’ve had some frustration lately due to my last few posts bringing up some sites that I personally consider dubious at best if not out right scam sites, but I’ve been filtering those URLs as I see them.

    I placed the AdSense code in header.php. I did have it in index.php in the menu area but I found that it wasn’t displaying on every page.

    OK, I’ve now got it working great on the site that I upgraded to 1.5 … Training-dog-breeds All I did was edit each template individually. If you click on individual posts or archives you’ll see that it works fine.

    I’d like an opinion of the different ad formats… does the large rectangle ad look too much on the archived pages?

    Why not add it directly to sidebar.php instead of editing all your templates individually? I just stick tower ads there, and it works fine.
    . . . or add it to header.php like HiMysk did . . .

    Just thought that it’d be good form (of sorts) for me to mention that I removed AdSense for now. Sort of. It’s the “no iframe” code now for the iframe that displays the Amazon books.

    Today is a day of not being sure of anything. Bleh. Anyhow, there’s that.

    I am having the same problem with every google ad being about a blog… It’s getting kind of ridiculous…

    It’s even like this here on the WP forums… everything is about a Free DC Blog…

    Any ideas around this?

    I’ve been using adsense for more than a year. Haven’t had many problems with it. It can take a little time for it to display something relevant to a new posting, but otherwise does decently.

    Definitely use the description and keyword headers to your benefit — that’s what they are there for. If they just list the title of your site, that doesn’t help any search engine code… ??

    Can someone expound on this? Do you mean the meta tags, or some other form of header?
