I am using Table of Contents Plus. I like everything about the plug-in except that I want visitors to be able to jump to the anchor link. I believe this is the default and there is a box that allows you to choose to scroll rather than jump to the anchor link. But whether or not the box is checked I always get the scroll effect which is a bit unsettling. My site is password protected so I can’t provide a link.

The default is definitely to jump to the anchor rather than scroll. Try disabling the TOC+ plugin to see if it still scrolls. You might find that the same behaviour is provided by your theme or another plugin.

When I deactivate the app the ToC disappears. The Theme I bought didn’t have a ToC. I would still like to try to get rid of the scrolling. Aside from this issue I really like this plug-in.

I was suggesting that the scrolling effect was provided by either your theme or another plugin (because I’m positive if you have it disabled in Settings > TOC+ then it would not be the TOC+ plugin providing this effect).

    So the test was to:

    1. Disable TOC+
    2. Create an anchor the manual way on a lengthy page (enough for a scrollbar), then click the link to see if it still scrolls.

    Hi,

Thanks for your patience. I did not know how to create an anchor but followed the instructions you provided and was able to create the anchor.

First, I disabled the ToC plug-in. Then I created the anchor and a link to the anchor. I tested the page and when I clicked on the link I jumped to the anchor as I wanted. Then I reactivated the ToC plug-in and tested my anchor again. Still I jumped to the anchor as I wanted. So jumping happens when I use my link to the anchor regardless of whether the ToC plug-in is enabled.

Still I am left with the same problem that when someone clicks on a ToC title they scroll instead of jumping as I would like. How can I get them to jump instead of scrolling?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Frank

Are you able to create a public section of the site for me to take a look?

    Hi Michael,

Thank you. Of course I would not hold you to any deadline. I appreciate all of your help.

Would you please provide your email address again. I didn’t understand what you wrote above.

    Thanks,

    Frank

Take out the /my domain/ part and you’ve got it.

Thanks, Mike. I just emailed my demo page to you.

I just replied back confirming that the smooth scrolling was also a feature provided by the theme. For others wondering, the theme appeared to be based on Themify https://themify.me/
