Would like a new/easier way to make an image gallery

I have recently migrated my old website into a new spiffier WordPress site and I gotta say, WordPress is just amazing. I have nearly said goodbye to my old, inefficient way of doing things but there is still one thing remaining. The purpose of my little site is for friends and family to see what we’re up to. I have always used an application called JAlbum to create “picture galleries” and slide shows and would then add a little narrative to each main index page. It was not an extremely simple matter and didn’t always look the greatest, but it did accomplish the goal. My new WordPress site still has all of the links to these JAlbum pages (you can see them by clicking on the little pictures on most of the posts) but going forward, I would like to find a better way to do this. I am not sure if there is a widget, a plugin or just some completely independent way of making these little side narratives with pictures a little easier to create and manage. I was sort of thinking of flickr or other options, but I’m not sure yet. I’m open to any ideas and look forward to hearing from anyone that might be interested in helping me out.
