    Hi.
    I built my entire website from the twenty twelve theme and now, I would like to convert it into a child theme in order to regularly update the twenty twelve theme without a fear for my website.

    Would it be possible to make it with your plugin and then, how may I have to proceed ?

    Thanks in advance for your reply.
    Best regards.
    Ren Hoh.

    Ren Hoh,

    We put together a list of steps. You can find them here.

    Great ! Thanks for the link !.. Just two thing I’m not sure to understand:

    -First, at the step 3:

    The “Parent Templates” I have to “Copy Selected to Child Theme” is my website, the one I want to convert into a child theme, isn’t it?

    -Next, at the step 4:
    Concerning what I have to copy into the “Raw CSS” textarea box.

    I have made 2 files to customize my website-> style.css and responsive.css
    … May I have to copy both files into the “Raw CSS” textarea box, one after the other ?

    Can’t I simply copy those 2 files at the root of the child theme ?

    The objective is to copy only the elements that have changes to the child theme. Please read this link.

    In step 3, only copy the templates that you have changed. WordPress will automatically look in the child theme first, and if the files don’t exist there, it will fall back to the parent. Copying them all would work, but is unneccessary.

    In step 4, responsive.css will never load from the child. WordPress loads all of the parent stylesheets (depending on the theme), but only the child’s style.css.

    CTC automatically writes the child’s style.css from the data in the configurator, so you need to enter only the styles that have changed into the Raw CSS. They then take priority and “override” the parent stylesheets.
