Would anyone like live gravatars?

I’d love to use Gravatars, period; but, apparently, I missed the boat on registering for one, as the gravatar web site doesn’t appear to be processing any new registrations. ??

Anyway, what do you mean by “live” Gravatars? I’m curious…

i *just* signed up a test account on gravatar.com, it worked just fine — not sure where you went that they werent taking new users?

The Gravatar site is a bit shaky at times, I noticed. Please try again – Gravatars are a really nice way of personalizing blog comments.

As for live gravatars, I’m in the dark as much as chipbennet.
If you ask for feedback to decide weather to write a tutorial or not, we must have some clue of your idea.

If it’s animated gifs to be used as a personal face or icon in connection with blog posts, I’m not keen on such.
If a whole page with comments blinks and flashes with strangely colored animations, I wouldn’t try to read it.
Remember the unfamous dreaded <blink> tag invented in a unhappy moment by Netscape Com back in the explosive times of Web 0.7 ??

On another tune – everything fun is worth trying, and will get its good use in due time. So fight for it and give us a clue!

They do seem to be abominably slow at times, as well as “lost” at others!

Well, add me in as one who’d like to know what a “live gravatar” actually is!

Live Gravatar: The way you see the word, is the way it works. This is how it works. The user enters their email address in the email field. When they hit tab to go to the URL box, or the message box, or If they use their arrow to go to any fieldbox, the page is refreshed using ajax and the gravatar is shown right there without refreshing the page. Its a automatically updated page. You can enter any email, and get a gravatar. Get it now? Basically, you enter your email address, and It will refresh the page using ajax and you can see your gravatar while typing.

That sounds much like my gravatar from gravatar.com.
I’m not really sure if my Gravatar is requested after I submit my first comment on a blog site ( bad memory :), but certainly when I come back to a site to make a new comment, it’s there before I write anything.
Now if AJAX means faster by using javascript and the unfocus event ont the mail address field – shoot man shoot!
