Would a cdn help my site?

    I am trying to make my site as fast and efficiently as possible and have gotten totally confused with trying to set up a cdn. Now I am wondering how much it would really help as my site is small with not a lot of content.

    I’m using wp supercache and installed cdn sync tool(but am afraid to try it) I also tried setting it up through my server (Bluehost) but broke some stuff so backed out.

    is there any simple way?

  • unless you want to play with CDN’s just to do it, it doesn’t sound like there is any technical reason you are going to gain much performance improvement given the size of your site and the way it is already caching.

    Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I have read about to many problems people have in doing so and the risk:payoff is way to high for me.

    YOu only have 3 images

    YOu have a local business

    So cdn’s will help nothing; you have no AU or CHINA users

    YOur site is fast enough

    the ones i care about are within a 200 mile radius.

    then, the best optimization you can do is to get a local or close Hosting provider.

    Yeah, even in Northern Indiana I grabbed your page in about 2.4 seconds.

    Now of course you can always get it to load even faster, and a CDN would shave maybe a few fractions of a second off, but it’s up to you whether it’s worth it or not.

    It appears you’ve already got great load times.

    RackspaceCloud only charges for bandwidth you use, so if you are just curious about getting a CDN set up and learning how to run one, personally I think it’s a great learning experience…

    You may also benefit quite a bit by utilizing the Page Speed plugin Google recommends and having it analyze your site. It will recommend doing some other things as well. You can find that here.
