  • Indeed www.remarpro.com will allow you download the software, so in order to make a website accessible by others on the net you will need to upload it to some web hosting that you have purchased and add a domain name.

WordPress.com is a hosted option so you can sign up and create a blog/website for free. There are some restrictions with this version regarding the themes, plugins, settings and customisable options. There are also some charges to unlock certain features, or remove ads for example.

    Hi Tom

thankyou for your reply, so is the .org the better / more adaptable / more powerful way to go?

also if i download it, am i right in thinking i can’t run it on a PC without an server emulator? or does it run like a bit of software like microsoft word does?

Yes .org will give you a lot more customisation options, including creating child themes to edit theme files and also make your own plugins. The caveat being that you will need to host it yourself.

What you will download is a zip file full of different directories, scripts, stylesheets, etc. In order to run the site locally for development purposes, you will need to use some software such as MAMP (Mac) or WAMP (Windows).

    Hi Tom

sorry can i ask: am i right in thicking that it can ne installed on my website server / provider and then i can work on it live online?

and if this is the case if i had a live site but was working on content and pages that were not published yet will this unpublished stuff be indexed by search engines?

i see in the wordpress.com site you can set a private setting on pages so only i can see it until i publish it.

Some web hosts have the option to automatically install WordPress and many other online platforms. This will add the files to your server space and setup the MySQL database for you. Worth checking if your host does this.

Yes once installed and setup the site will be “live” and you can add pages/posts and make customisations. You can prevent search engines from crawling the site by going to Settings -> Reading -> select the “Search Engine Visibility” tick box.

When the site is finished you should untick this so search engines will find it, and also install YoastSEO plugin to improve SEO.

The private setting is also available on any www.remarpro.com site and will make the page accessible only to logged in admins of the site.

I recommend using www.remarpro.com . There you can change everything you want, use plugins and themes free. www.remarpro.com is opensource.

    Hi, My friend

if you want to start a free blog or try to understand about the WordPress (how it is work and how to use it) then you can go with wordpress.com

But if you want to start a professional blog or website. then you need to go with www.remarpro.com

Because on www.remarpro.com you can do what you want. Everything in your hand…

So, I recommend going with www.remarpro.com

if you have any other question? let me know!

    Thanks

I also recommend using wordpress.or if you have a project that you will develop over time. I have seen sites on wordpress.com that needed to be moved because they had restrictions in functionality.
