• I was looking for some cleanup tools to keep my site in shape. I have started with the pluging “Advanced Database Cleaner” and it works fantastic. I am fine to find my post and pages I would like to remove, but I have had challenges in finding unused media files. This is how I have found this plugin.

I am not a programmer – so much to say. And when using the free version the first time, I accidently deleted my media files – even those in use. I simply missed out to add the trash bin to my media files.

Then I gave it another shop. All good except that the “Empty Trash” button did not work. The system started analyzing but no finishing.
Knowing that the trash bin is part of WordPress and not the plugin, I have found that my “Advanced Database Cleanup” plugin cleans up also the media trash bin. So, I now use Media Cleaner to find potential trash and Advanced Database Cleanup to get it off my machine.

    All good now!

    Thanks for your review!

Need to check about this Empty Trash button. By the way, if you use the Pro, be careful: the Media are indeed going to the WP trash, but the files in /uploads discovered by the Pro are going in the trash of the plugin. So basically this Empty Trash button must work, Database Cleanup will not do it. Actually, Database Cleanup might not even remove the actual files from the trash system, I am not sure, but definitely deleted the entry.

@jollychap, I suppose, the scenario to use both Media Cleaner and Advanced Database Cleanup must be this:

    1. Search with Media Cleaner to find potential trash.
    2. Check what was found by Media Cleaner and, if all is OK, empty the trash bin, also with Media Cleaner. As was mentioned by @tigroumeow the Advanced Database Cleanup cannot remove the actual files from the trash system, it only cleans the database (so, it will delete only entries about your trash from database, not files).
    3. Run Advanced Database Cleanup.

P.S. This will be also a manual for my own use of these plugins ??
