Intrusive Ads. Does significantly reduce number of brute force attacks.
-
UPDATE. My initial review of Stop Bad Bots was a 5 star review. While the plugin continues to work well, I complained a while back in the support forum regarding intrusive ads for this plugin on all pages of the dashboard. While it is possible to dismiss these intrusive ads, they return every time I login. VERY annoying.
Per guideline #11 in the WordPress Developer’s Handbook: “Plugins should not hijack the admin dashboard. Upgrade prompts, notices, alerts, and the like must be limited in scope and used sparingly, be that contextually or only on the plugin’s setting page.”
For this reason I have decided to stop using this plugin and no longer recommend it.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I have been using Stop Bad Bots on a number of WP sites for several months and have noticed a significant drop in the number of automated brute force attacks on sites where it’s installed. So far I am very impressed with this plugin. Thanks to the developer for sharing it with the WordPress community!(Also, I don’t really understand the negative reviews complaining about the plugin warning about low memory. This is a GOOD thing! Increasing the default WP memory will result in a more stable website.)
