Hi, I have used your plugin on several Divi sites and it works great. Currently, I’m working on a site using Elementor Pro with the Astra theme. I created a search results template and while search terms are highlighted on my results page that I designed, they are not highlighted on click-through. Any help greatly appreciated!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I’ll have to take a look at your site from lap/desktop later because doing a search from mobile (hamburger menu) seems to be impossible…

Click on the menu. Search is there.

    Hi,
I’ve added a search icon in order to make it more clear for users. Thanks.

Yes I know. The problem is the menu closes as soon as you want to enter a search term. On Android at least…

In any case, on desktop I see the problem. The search term is not propagated to the result links. The plugin has no way of knowing which search term was used after clicking through to a post or page.

I’m not sure if this is because of the theme or a plugin like Elementor. You’d have to test that by temporarily disabling plugins or switching to the default theme.

Thanks for the response. I’m thinking the issue is with Elementor. Highlighting works properly with the theme default search results page, but not the Elementor search results template (and click-through). Since this is a virtual reunion website, search is an important feature. I’m re-thinking using Elementor for this. Also because of the Android issue.

Yes it sounds like a conflict with this Elementor search result template… Sorry I won’t be able to give you a fix for this :/

The problem was with the Elementor search results template. I had edited a pre-made layout. When I made one from scratch, it worked. Thanks for your help. I never would have thought to try a different template without your input. I moved the mobile search to the header and now it works on Android too!
