    Justin
I hate to state the obvious, but…..(cough, cough) if you are seeing the shortcode text [do_widget….] then either
    1) the plugin is not active, yup its definitely gotta be active to do anything….
    or
    2) the theme is not applying content filters to the post content

Haha ya it’s activated. And I’m using the same theme in both sites… Is it possible a few modifications I made to the style.css and page.php (only on the new site) would be causing this?

    Hi justin,

    quite possibly – either
    1) pyou are not using the function “the_content” in your page.ph
It applies the filters to the content. One of the filters will be the shortcode one which will substitute all the shortcode texts with the output from the plugins (ie in this case the output from the widget).
    see:
    https://adambrown.info/p/wp_hooks/hook/the_content?version=3.9&file=wp-includes/post-template.php

    or 2)
somehow you have removed the filters.

go back to the standard page.php, check it works and then alter from there.

i renamed the page.php to page.php.bak to test, your suggestion was perfect. the plugin is now working.

maybe off topic but do you have a suggestion as to how to remove the default widget text that appears with themes? that was the reason for having the altered page.php

    so i LIED
i was looking at the wrong page. removing the page.php didnt help.

ALSO. i reactivated the parent theme with all original files and it still displays the code.

justin i don’t think i can help further. something is not ‘normal’ either on that site or that theme. It is nothing to do with my plugin as that is not even getting a chance to work.

Activate a default wp theme like 2010/2011/2012/2103 to verify.

Still does work with 2014… Shit. And thanks haha
