The plugin integrates perfectly into the default WordPress UI at Tools > (plugin name). Import and export are both quick and flawless (tested in debug mode).

If a widget (tag cloud in my case) already exists in a local widget area, the plugin does not import another widget of the same type into the same widget area. This behavior seems logical as it would be rather annoying to have multiple widgets of the same type in one and the same widget area after import. Instead you can just edit the settings of your local widget, or remove them before running the import. The import summary page highlights widgets that have been omitted during import.

I was wondering/guessing why the plugin generates JSON files with a custom file suffix (.wie) and was glad I found the answer in a comment by the author. Again, the explanation sounds very well thought through. I’d suggest for the author to include that info in the plugin description in order for more tech savvy users to feel at ease with the “proprietary touch”. ??

I would recommend the plugin to clients as being reliably functional, easy to use and well looked after. Thanks!
