You’re not supposed to review your own plugins, or self promote – so please consider this post bias.

The poor reviews (accurate and understandable) where true of the old version, it didn’t work well 3 years ago, it was rushed-and-forgotten project, but I’ve completely rewritten the plugin now, in Summer 2017.

The plugin is working now, and an excellent solution for WordPress dev’s looking to clear out UPLOAD directories that have thousands of unused resized images (all the images with -###-### appended to them).

A lot of themes and plugins out there use add_image_size() to create custom thumbnails for a tiny feature of their plugin/theme. That’s great, but the problem is this isolated need for a specific size gets used for all Media Library images. Furthering the problem, if you have had two dozen themes/plugins over the years with one or two custom images sizes each, this all adds up to a very file-heavy directory.

I personally had a site that add ten resized images for every Media Library image. It adds up, and clogs things up.

Anyways, the plugin works great now. Select all images and delete, simple as that. Using the Regenerate Thumbnail plugin you can rebuild only the needed resizes images for your current theme/plugins.

Again, I’m bias, but please don’t let the reviews from 3 years ago when it was a bad plugin sway your choice to give it a try.
