    1. it doesn’t check if you have moved your config one directory above for security purposes. This is common and even a recommended security tip in the WordPress docs.

    2. Doesn’t play well when the default content directory is altered. This can be done both by hand and with several plugins such as iThemes security.

If you changed the directory it actually grabs that full wrong path from your config and updates your live sites plugins instead of the staging site.

I luckily have backups and know what to look for but this can potentially be a problem for those unaware what is going on.

I’m not knocking down the rating for the issues since that’s advanced config. But I am knocking down the stars because I tried to contact the dev via their official support and have not heard anything back.

They do clearly state if you want support purchase the plugin but I’m simply not willing to purchase it just to report issues.

I’d like to purchase it once these issues are worked out.

@edwardinstinct When have you contacted us?

We were developing the last two days continuously on the new WP Staging Version which supports database migration (Beta Version is ready) so we are trailing behind a little bit for customer tickets:-)

You can contact us directly support [at] wp-staging.com

Good points you were mentioning. I put them on our to do list.

@edwardinstinct i checked all our mails and i do not find any mail with such a topic.

As far as i know “moving the wp-config.php” outside of the WP root folder is not offically recommended and nowhere stated in the docs.

Please send me a link to this if i err but i looked through the docs and can not find this entry.

Btw. Yesterday i finished a new WP Staging (Pro) version with capability to migrate database data as well. Needs some more testing but will probably released this week.
