• Hi! I downloaded this plugin to use with Contact Form 7 and the Download Monitor plugins. I have it set up so that a modal pops up , the viewer enters their name and email, and then a link appears for the PDF. However, that link is leading to the PDF in a new browser window, not a download. My count in Download Monitor is messed up and I think this is why. Everytime I do that and click on it, my download count goes up in the “Downloads” view but it does not get logged. When I put the shortcode directly on a page, it logs the download. I am currently using php to pull the shortcode in the code for the modal.
How can I fix this? I am also unable to hide the URL, but I think all of these problems are related.
    Thanks!!!

  • You can make it cause the browser’s download/save popup to appear, rather than the PDF displaying in the browser, by going to your download in Download Monitor and setting Force Download to true (or yes or whatever it says).

For downloads that use EBD, you should look at the csv log from the EBD settings page rather than the Download Monitor log.

I am not sure what you mean by the description given for the other stuff you mention. I don’t understand what you mean by unable to hide the URL… Various other people on this support forum have gotten things to work inside javascript popup type windows — some have had to try a couple of different popup plugins to get things working. I have no knowledge of what they did or what plugins they used. Hard to guess why it might act differently between a plain page vs a popup in your case – maybe a javascript issue, who knows….

I went to my download in Download Monitor and I don’t have the option to set Force Download to true. These are the options in the download options box on the right :

    Featured download
Mark this download as featured. Used by shortcodes and widgets.

    Members only
Only logged in users will be able to access the file via a download link if this is enabled.

    Redirect to file
Don’t force download. If the dlm_uploads folder is protected you may need to move your file.

    Check redirect to file
