Workflow approvals in Word Press?

Is there a program within Word Press to automatically forward versions of posts to the next approver in a workflow? We have a problem with too many people getting into a post, overriding each other, etc. I recall when I used a file trafficking system, when one person signed off on something, it automatically was sent to the next person in the chain of command, ending up finally with the person with publishing rights. Does Word Press have something similar?
