Try overwriting it with the dev version https://github.com/lesterchan/wp-polls/archive/master.zip. Then go to WP-Admin -> Polls -> Poll Templates and restore all templates to default.

to “overwrite” do i go to plugins, upload new, and upload it?

actually think I got it working, just going to leave template alone to be safe. thanks. assuming there is another thread on how to change vote button color though?

You can change it via CSS

.wp-polls.Buttons {
color: red;
}

That doesn’t work sadly. I tried adding the suggested code to wp-polls/polls-css.css but the color does not change.

That means your theme is probably overwriting it.
