If I enable allow comments on scheduled events there is a permissions error if the user tries to comment (commenting works fine on completed events). Therefore for the time being I have disabled comments on scheduled events.

I understand from reading previous support questions this is a known issue. My web designers had previously provided a workaround solution for the issue but it involved customising core WP files, which is not a good solution. So when I later updated WP it was overwritten (which is fine).

Are there any other known workarounds to enable comments on scheduled events?

Note: I remember finding it in your feature requests but sorry, couldn’t find it again on this occasion.

    Thanks Savvas

I had seen this solution before but thought the wp-comments-post.php core file had changed since that solution was posted so didn’t think it would work. However despite that doubt I have gone for it this time and it does of course work ?? .

One minor difference is it doesn’t allow nested/reply to comments, whereas published posts do (presumably because the WP Discussion settings only control published posts). However it’s still great that we have a workaround. Thanks for sharing ?? .

    Hi @eugenefraxby,

I am glad it worked for you. I informed the Developers and they will try to include that “fix” at the next update of SportsPress.

In the meantime, did you try any 3ndparty plugins like Disqus, for your comments?

    Thanks,
    Savvas

No but that’s because I told the web devs I didn’t want third party logins such as fbook etc. Disqus is maybe the one third party I wouldn’t mind using though. Might give it a shot in the future.

    Thanks
