    Hi,

    We use Fluent Forms Pro.

I’ve set up a “new user registration – for user” notification.

I add users to my site myself. After adding them they receive the default WordPress email not the custom one I’ve written in the notification above.

How would I go about replacing the default WP email notification with a custom one which triggers immediately after I add a user to our site?

    Thank you,

    I highly appreciate your help!

    Hi @lddvio,
    Thanks for your message.

Apologies, it wasn’t clear from your message: Are you using a Fluent Forms Pro form to create new users to your site?

    Hi bnfw,

We use WordPress’ default Users > Add new Users to add users.

We only Fluent Forms Pro (and FluentSMTP) for forms on our website which records data and forwards it by email to us immediately after submission.

Once I add new users, they receive WordPress’ default email asking them to activate their account.

I wanted to edit this email so I can add a few extra links and some more info, if possible.

Or an alternative would be, if possible, to set up a notification using your plugin which emails users that were just added through the backend (Users > Add new Users).

So if I add a user a user, either:

    1. Edit the first email sent out by WordPress to activate their account, or
    2. Set up a notification, which sends them an additional email with our bespoke information and additional links.

Would either of the two options above be possible please?

    Thank you,

    I highly appreciate it!

    Hi @lddvio,
    Thanks for clarifying.

Yes, you should be able to do both of those with BNFW.

You can use the ‘New User Registration – For User’ notification to override the default email that is sent to new users after they register/have been registered in the WordPress Admin.
You can then use the ‘Post-registration Email’ to send a separate email, sent at the same time, with any other information you want as well. You can use the first notification mentioned for this too, but some people like to have this information split into two emails instead of one.

Let me know if this helps.

Any reason why my ‘New User Registration – For User’ notification didn’t work? Users are still getting the default WordPress email.

See below screenshot of my notification. Simple enough to work, so I’m thinking it’s something else, but I can’t figure out why.

    Hi @lddvio,

This usually happens when another plugin or theme is overriding BNFWs override. Please can you make your way through this document and let me know how you get on?

So I’ve tried everything. On step 11, the email log shows the default WP email which is sent (and I receive it) but it’s not the custom email I set up in your plugin.

I’ve also tried changing the notification from ‘new user registration for user’ to ‘new user post registration email’ and neither are sending.

    Any ideas?

By the way I have a multi-site with WP Engine, if that’s any relevant.

    Hi @lddvio,
Thanks for bearing with me at this time of year.

Multisite can work a bit differently. How are you creating new users? Is it at th network level, main site level, or on the subsite itself?

    Hi,

I’m creating users straight from the subdomain level, which gives users permission only to our subdomain.

    Thanks,

    Hi @lddvio,
I’ve just tested this by installing BNFW at the network level, then creating a ‘New User Registration – For User’ notification at the subsite level, and tested the notification by creating a user on the subsite by going to Users > Add New and adding a user in the Add New User section (not the Add Existing User section). In MailHog (a local mail catcher), I was able to see the New User Registration – For User notification sent successfully.

As I’m not able to replicate the issue, are you able to post a link to a video showing how you’re testing, whilst all plugins are deactivated (except for BNFW and Post SMTP), and using the default WordPress TwentyTwentyFour theme so I can see if there’s anything else I can test based on your setup?

    See video here: https://youtu.be/fH_5LBHrLnc

All plugins disabled except BNFW & Post SMTP.

Default WordPress theme, in my case Twenty-One.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, I highly appreciate it!

Edit: This video shows the subdomain side.

    Hi @lddvio,
    Thanks for this.

I think the issue is that you’re inviting a user to join rather than adding them. Is this a brand new user account or an exisiting account that is being added to the site?

You may need the Multisite add-on to make this work with your set-up: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/downloads/multisite/

    Hi,

I add brand new users, meaning they’re not added on the network or the domain. So I’m adding them to the subdomain for the first time.

I though inviting users is the only way to add them to the site: Users > Add New User. (Whether I skip the confirmation email or not, the custom notification created through bnfw still doesn’t send.)

Since this is me <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>inviting</span> them to join, what’s the other way, How do I add users?

    Thanks!

    Hi @lddvio,
Just checked on this and yes, you definitely need the Multisite add-on for this.

Multisite installations use a different method for creating users and so it needs the additional notifications that the BNFW Multisite add-on provides in order to work.
Details and pricing can be found here: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/downloads/multisite/

Cools, I’ll look at purchasing and trying out the multisite function in a bit.

Once I upgrade, can I use my way of adding/inviting people? Or is there another way which triggers the ‘New User Registration – For User’ notification?

    Thanks!
