here is my site I just started developing using graph paper press’s work-a-holic theme. josharris.com

I’ve been struggling for a bit with this theme and have a few questions.

    1. Is it possible to make the frontpage projects more permanent rather than having them be the latest posts I add? I want my blog to be a separate menu item in the top menu but when I post to the blog I don’t want it to show on the frontpage thumbnails. I want the frontpage thumbnails to just be an archive of my work.

    2. Where in the code can I change the mouse over the thumbnails to get rid of that tan wrinkled paper.

    3. How can you add a thumbnail to the front page that when clicked takes you to a a new post of a video from vimeo? If I just add the video the front thumbnail is blank or the default tan wrinkled paper.

    Thanks all.

anyone? I think I figured out number 1. I had to add the ‘home’ page back on. I still don’t see where I can edit my second question or if 3 is possible.

    Dear Mr. Harris,

I too am having issues with the work-a-holic theme. However, I do know the answer to your question number 2. The line of code that you need to change to change the background is as follows under /* content */:

    #content div.portfolio{background: #fff url(images/thumb-bg.jpg) 8px 8px no-repeat;margin-bottom: 22px;}

delete ‘#fff url(images/thumb-bg.jpg)’ and replace it with a color number, etc.

I hope that that helps. I am trying to figure out how to remove the images that appear when you are in a portfolio page. I just want the numbers under the main image, as demonstrated in the graph paper press demo. Here is my site: https://sarahjweber.info/. Hope you can help!

    We miss you!

    Sarah

Josh, for question number 3, in order for the thumbnail to show up, you must add a picture to the gallery for that post, but do not place it in the actual post. It will then show up on the thumbnail.

Sarah! I′ve seen your web and its perfect! I have a problem with this theme I don′t know how can i resize the photos, I creat a new entry and each photo has a different size. And the framework isn′t the same as the photo and i don′t know how can i change it.

    Could you help me?
    Thanks!

    Hey.

I’m struggling to get the portfolio pages look right.

    Should look like this:
    https://demo.graphpaperpress.com/workaholic/category/music/

    Looks like this:
    https://itforalle.mine.nu:8025/andreasl/einar/?cat=5

I’m a bit new to wordpress, so i’ve probably just haven’t activated the portfolio view or something. My category pages has two columns, and no thumbs.

    Any thoughts?

Nvm. Appearance->Theme options->select the “portfolio” as blog category did the trick. Not so good documentation on this one. Solved for me, though.

BUT then there’s no thumbs on the front page. Urgh! How do you get thumbs on both front page AND category / portfolio page?

So I figured it out. You actually HAVE to have a blog on your site and make that your Blog Category in “theme options”.

Hi, does anyone know how to get rid of all of the text on the homepage? (the three widget texts at the bottom explaining how to use the widget section and also the big text right in the middle of the page that says “Hi! We design beautiful websites…”)

Also, is there a way to get rid of the widgets from the rest of the website? I tried using the text box and then filling it with a space but that can only be done for one widget.

I had a look at Sarah and Josh’s websites and they look really nice and clean on the homepage and that’s exactly how I want mine to look (also with a fixed homepage that doesn’t display every latest blog entry).

Any pointers how you did it would be muchly appreciated! Thanks ??

Ok, so I figured that you need to go to “settings” and then “reader” and then click “set homepage to static page”. So I went to “pages” and set up a test page. Only problems is, how do I make the “page” look like the original homepage?? I can only figure out how to add plain text rather than the box links to my selected posts???

New update: Ok, so I figured out how to delete all that text (when I eventually found the index.php file! lol).
Looks like I’m almost all set to go then! Just two more questions:

    1) How do you edit the “Just another wordpress theme” text under the header. Which php file is this in? I can’t seem to find it.

    2) How to you make the homepage permanent instead of showing the latest posts? Josh said he’d figured this out by adding “Home” to the menu. Is there anything else you have to do too?? (Also, if I add ‘home’ to the menu it pushes my menu into two lines which I don’t want).
How do you add “home” to the menu? By creating a page or a post?? Sorry, I’m a bit confused about this.

    Thanks in advance!

I successfully created child theme, BUT am still unable to customize certain aspects of layout (there’s a sidebar I can’t get rid of).

    * The blog page has text on the CMS side, but shows the gallery when I preview.

    * The home page and the portfolio pages have nothing.

    Theme: workaholic.

would anybody know where i could set the number of the posts visible on the homepage? for example i would like to have 18 of them featuring there.

As this is a commercial/membership theme, you need to seek support from the theme vendors.
