The plugin doesn’t seem to count the words within a blockquote (<blockquote>), and so reports the word total as very small if you have a lot of text within the blockquotes. This gives a false text length and thus a poor SEO score. It would be good if this problem were fixed within the plugin. Thanks!

    Hi @jamminjames,

    Thanks for reaching out.

It’s expected that our plugin doesn’t analyze content in blockquotes, as these are typically used for quotes, reviews from your audience, customer testimonials, etc. Quotes are typically written by someone else, not by you, so it wouldn’t make much sense if our plugin provided feedback for a text that you can’t modify and, therefore, optimize. That’s why we decided to exclude blockquotes from the content analysis.

If, for any reason, you really want content in quotes to be analyzed by Yoast SEO, we’d suggest you not use WordPress blockquotes; instead, please use other formatting styles.
