WordPress.com Stats Plugin Error

I am a newbie to www.remarpro.com, although I currently have a few wordpress.com blogs. I am trying to install the “wordpress.com stats plugin” and it states I need a wordpress.com account.

In order to activate the plugin, I need to enter a wordpress.com api key, which I got from my current wordpress.com account, but it’s stating the following:

“WordPress.com Stats needs attention: please enter an API key or disable the plugin.”

What am I doing incorrect?
