• I started my blog at the end of 2008 and am a bit embarrassed to say I am still using WP version 2.2.3. I’ve been meaning to upgrade and choose a new layout but am really worried about losing everything!

Shortly after I launched the blog, I added the WordPress.com stats plugin, v1.1.1.

I have one log in as admin to the blog, and a second wordpress.com login which I use for the stats and has worked ever since I implemented it. However, yesterday when I tried to log in to my stats using my wordpress.com login I got the following error message:

“You are not a member of this site. If you have just installed the WordPress.com Stats plugin, this error probably appeared because the API key entered in the plugin belongs to a different WordPress.com user account. The owner of the API key must visit this site’s stats page to grant access. You are logged into WordPress.com as [username]. To switch accounts, log out.”

I haven’t made any changes to either of my usernames or passwords, so am not sure what has happened…Could it be anything to do with my old version of wordpress, or the plugin itself? I would be really grateful for any advice you can give me.

My blog is https://www.irishfamilyhistory.ie/blog (as you can see it needs a bit of a makeover!)

IIRC, there are issues with the wp-stats plugin right now that they’re aware of.

Hi same problem for me. WordPress.com Stats used to work well on conniehocopywriting.com & conniehomarketing.com. Both are self-hosted on wp.org. I also have connieho1/wordpress.com. All 3 sites have the same API. However, problem occurs today. WordPress.com Stats does not work on the 2 self hosted sites.

I got the error message “You are not a member of this site.

This is not true, I correctly log into conniehocopywriting.com but it thinks I log in as connieho1 & thus does not let me see the stats…..now I am very stuck. Not sure if something can be done or just wait for miracle to come…….

    Please advise, thanks.

I had the same problem and installing the jetpack plugin fixed the issue but you need 3.1
