WordPress/bbpress/buddypress soooo slow

I have been trying for 3 months to speed up this site https://vpinball.com/forums and nothing helps. I even switched to VPS from godaddy! this seems wrong and i must be missing something? i did convert forums to phpbb here https://vpinball.com/vpbforums and that is instant fast again was just a test. I even tried a fresh install of wordpress and was slow without anything installed. Any ideas?
