    Hi

I’m guessing there must be something out there that someone knows about selling products that are based on lineal metre.

I have a client who sells timber at $ per lineal metre. So therefore we will be selling a length of timber 1.8m length at $12 per lineal metre. Therefore I have 1 unit of timber at 1.8m which is $12 … and pricing once “Add to cart” is pressed – total should be 1.8x$12 = $21.60 for that unit (added to the cart).

What plugin can I use to get this achieved ?
Or do I used Gravity forms does this have a feature ?

Not sure how I am going to do this at this stage.

Obviously (well hopefully) someone out there has used Woocommerce for a timber shop or another type of business (maybe carpet place) that sells per lineal metre.

    URGENT help and advice required.

    Thanks in advance !

    Thanks
    Kristin

    Hi Kristin,

It sounds like you could really make use of Measurement Price Calculator. This extension allows products to be configured and sold by the unit. In this case, meters. I hope it helps ??

    Hi Mike

Thanks for that suggestion – I sent an email to them but it doesn’t sound like it will.

I may have to do a Variation in each Product and then choose a dropdown option for the client.

Can I do global Variations for particular Categories ? Do you know ?

I will be having Merbau Timber at varying lengths. 2.1m, 2.6, 3.2 etc
Will setup 1 product called Merbau Timber… then will have OPTIONS

Example: if product is 2.1 metres length (I will note that it is $6/lineal metre) and price for that length is $12.60 for that unit on the Product ….
Then I possibly will add Variation for drop down saying “Merbau 2.1m at $6/lm is $12.60” and then 2nd item in the dropdown will say “Merbau 2.6m at $6/lm is $15.60”

Not ideal , not really the way I wanted to do it, but maybe there is no other way.
I’m still googling for other options and solutions.

    Thx
    Kristin

    Hey @kristinubute

Did you find a solution for this? Sounds like a complex set up.

Can I do global Variations for particular Categories ? Do you know ?

Global Attributes work across all products but they don’t appear by default, you would need to choose them when creating the product.

    Thanks,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

Hi, the only way I could get around was to add text in the Product Title $6/lm and calculate and sell the item as a $ lineal metre pricing x the length of the piece of timber. And selling as a unit pricing for 2.4m.

Yes I added them into the Variations area.

This is what I have to do for now unless someone comes across a particular plugin that caters for this type of feature.

    Thanks again !

    Kristin
