WordPress wont load pages on my local web server

I’ve had a persistent problem with WordPress running on my local machine. I’ve seen other unresolved posts in the past from people with the same issue so I thought there might be a few ideas out there. What happens is WordPress seems to get stuck in endless page loading every time I click on a link or visit a folder like wp-admin. It never loads the page. The way around it is to click or refresh multiple times until it somehow ‘grabs’ and the page is displayed.

This is really slowing me down. I use a free webserver called web developer suite and have never had this problem with anything but wordpress. (I have windows Vista on my PC which had problems with WAMP when I tried to switch.) Anyone got any clues? Cheers.
