After a server crash, I copied all the WordPress files across to a new server and created an identical database. I imported the backup database into the new database. However, when I go to the new site, it wants to reinstall WordPress. It looks like it cannot see any of the old data. The site is off-line at present.
    Any advice would be welcome.

If it’s trying to reinstall, it sounds like it’s not seeing the wp-config.php file, or another required file.

Thank you for your reply. I’ve checked the wp_config.php file and it’s definitely there. I simply copied the whole site (all files) from the backup, so as far as I’m aware, there’s none missing.

That file should be named with a dash, not with an underscore. Are you sure it’s named correctly?

Thank you Samuel. It was my error in my post. Yes it is wp-content.php.

I have made a small amount of progress. The home page now shows, which I believe was down to my most recent database backup being corrupted. By using an older backup, the home page magically appeared. There is however no links working from the home page. I’m going to start a new thread as it’s now a different issue and consider this thread closed.

For anyone that may come across this in the future, the problem was a corrupted recent database backup, combined with The ‘headers’ module not loading in apache2.
