Since the update to 4.5.2 I’ve run into this with more than one of my sites, but not ALL sites. I cannot post or make updates to existing posts. When I click the publish or update button, the screen simply redirects from the wp-admin to my published home page for WordPress. No changes are saved. The same thing happens across multiple browsers.

    – I already tried setting to a default theme with all plugins disaled, which didn’t help
    – Drafts do not save either
    – As I pointed out, this is occurring on several of the WordPress-based sites I managed, not just one, so it’s either a serverwide setting or a WordPress issue
    – My username is showing as an administrator

    My PHP version is 5.4.36
    MySQL version is 5.5.49
Any other versions can be seen at https://poundheadhere.com/phpinfo.php

I definitely didn’t do anything to CHMOD. If there were permission changes they were made by WP during the update process. I don’t currently have an .htaccess, and the only thing defined in my php.ini is my max variables.

If you’ve got any suggestions short of a clean install I’d much appreciate it.

  • I’m having the same issue that I thought was a Divi builder (Elegant Themes) problem.

I can create new posts, but any existing post since updating to 4.5.2 doesnt work.

    Running PHP 5.6

I de-activated all plugins and themes, just running 2015 and it still wont save or update changes on existing posts or pages.

I went to twentysixteen theme and deactivated my plugins. Maybe I should literally remove the plugins – but frankly I only have half a dozen and they’re pretty standard ones. If I have to give up my Wordfence I’ll probably start looking for a different platform.

Looks like whatever bug it was, it’s decided to clear itself up. I didn’t make any further changes, so no clue what either the cause or the cure turned out to be.

I stand corrected. It’s fixed on one site, but not on others. Again, since I made no changes to the working site, I still don’t have a clue why it started working again but the others didn’t.

I wanted to add to this because I believe I have an answer, if not a solution. I finally ended up backing up my posts table of my database and did a fresh install of WordPress with a default theme – no active plugins. I can publish a few words, but more than that ends up causing the same issue, bouncing me back to the same page.

Because it happens on a clean install, with NOTHING on the page, I have to believe that the problem is related to the server and possibly the php version. My server is running php 5.5.3. I tried everything under the sun with the previous installation and it simply wouldn’t help.

I’d already submitted a trouble ticket asking my hosting provider to update the php to a current version and got crickets.

I’ll update again if I can find any other information on the subject.
