• Despite searching the net for the most practical solution, I still haven’t found out how to manage my subscribers best.

I have found multiple plug-ins that offer a variety of solutions, but nothing that is simple and practical where all my subscribers are stored in the standard WordPress Users list. Every plugin that I can find seems to have its own custom list which I can only find in that plugin’s customisation menu, if it is even on-site in my WordPress website.

I’ve tried “Email Subscribers & Newsletters” and “Newsletter Plugin” but they keep my subscribers separate from WordPress Users.

Ideally I’d like to be able to offer users the ability to subscribe by either registering with a password, or via Google or Facebook, or via email confirmation (without a PW). All with appropriate anti-spam and anti-hacking measures obviously.

The ability to automatically email notify subscribers when I post a new blog would also be cool.

The “Theme My Login” plugin lets me create themed obvious registration and login pages, but that is all I found. I’d have to manage multiple lists.

Am I just using the wrong search terms? ??

The subscriber issue can’t really be so muddled, can it?

  • Hey @ahardy42!

Great question – if I understand correctly, the search term you are looking for is “social login”. This should help you find the right plugin to allow people to register onto your site as any other WordPress user with their social media accounts.

Emailing users is another issue – so you’ll probably need another plugin for that. Be aware of GDPR rules and make sure users actively opt-in to receive your emails.

    Warm regards!

Blimey, a tsunami of social login plugins! Thank you for the tip.

I wonder what % of social logins will provide an email address.

I am slightly wary of not providing a password-less email registration, but I also think it’s an issue for people who only subscribe by email that they can’t just unsubscribe directly on the website. They have to have one of the emails with an unsubscribe link.
