WordPress Update Error

I’m working on a client site and tried updating to the newest version of WordPress (4.6.1) from version 4.4.5 and I am getting this error:

The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.: wp-admin/setup-config.php

I’ve been reading for a while about how to fix this with no luck. I don’t know anything about changing permissions and all that, and I really want to be sure I am doing it right so I don’t mess anything help.
