WordPress to WordPress

  • Hello! I have a previous WordPress blogs from my previous host, which is subdomain hosting. Now that I have acquired my new domain, I want to transfer my previous posts on my new blog. What should I do?

    I know WordPress is capable of importing blogs from other platforms but I am not familiar if it’s from another WordPress blog.

  • You can back up the database, reinstall it on the new server, and all you need to change are 2 rows in the wp_settings table, the wordpress uri and blog uri.
    If you can’t back up the database, you can use the rss import feature, just make sure you set the rss settings to show all posts, then just import it.

    Just curious and don’t want to hijack this thread, but how would you transfer only certain posts or categories of posts from one WP site to another? I never thought about using rss.
