WordPress times out, page cannot be displayed

I’m having a hard time doing almost anything in the WP-Admin panel. Every now and then I’ll click a link and I’ll be taken to a “Page cannot be displayed message” in Internet Explorer. After I refresh the page about 4-5 times it opens up to where it should have the first time. This is especially frustrating if I’m creating a new post and after clicking “Publish”, the page cannot be displayed. Luckily it auto saves my drafts.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? I’d say about 70% of the tasks I try to complete in WordPress (2.2.3) result in this error.

I’ve checked with my host, but everything is fine on their end. I’ve therefore narrowed it down to be a WordPress problem.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
