wordpress thumbnail feature not showing in admin post panel

    I have the latest version of wordpress and i don’t have the option for post thumbnail like i do on one of my other blogs. I have developed a custom theme and need that functionality. I don’t know why its not showing? Can anyone lead me to the correct documentation to enable it?
