• Wordpress always offers me to update to the newest version, even though it already is that version. This problem has been persistent for a couple of years now, so didn’t start with v5.

The automatic and manual version updates are always successful, only after the update WP still thinks it’s outdated.

Screenshots (They are in Hungarian, but the version numbers are the relevant bit.)

I ran the Health Check plugin linked in the sticky thread, and the only yellow mark it got was…

“Scheduled events A scheduled event (inpsyde_phone-home_checkin) has failed to run. Your site still works, but this may indicate that scheduling posts or automated updates may not work as intended.”

…but as the issue persists even with manual updates it’s probably not the issue(?)

  • It is a normal feature with localized WP versions.

I used to have a small link under the main update button to install the US English version, but this issue is different. It offers to install the same Hungarian version that I already have.

But if this is the expected behaviour, what am I supposed to do? Hide the update prompt at each new version, and turn off my security plugin’s warning about outdated WP?
