• I replaced the Header.png in my theme with a logo image. The generic title and description show over the new logo so I deleted the title and description from the general settings in my wordpress admin. If I remove the title and description will that affect my search rank? Is there a work around?

  • I suggest leaving the title and description in place in the WP settings, as that is how WP identifies the site name on the admin pages and in other places.

You can gain the SEO advantages of displaying them and not see them in the visual display of the site by assigning them CSS of either
    text-indent: -9999px or
    position: absolute; top: -100px

Either displays them offscreen, yet Google still sees them.

Excellent – Thanks so much! I’ll give that a try. Any one else? Perhaps agree or disagree with this work around?

Sweet, that worked great! It also displays my site name now rather than the url in the top browser bar which also verifies that it’s seen now. Thanks again.

I will leave this open a couple more days to see if any more input.
