• Hi all,

I’m looking for an alternative to Dreamweaver for wordpress theme development & coding. I’ve been using dreamweaver since 2003 and it just seems so dated now, not to mention expensive. It does have some wordpress functionality built into CS5, but its a bit cumbersome.

My focus is theme development. I’ve tried Coda and a few others, but nothing quite seems to fit. I’m looking into Aptana now, which looks like a good choice with a lot of features.

My background is in front-end design, so I’m new to development per se. I don’t totally get how to use version control (github), and being as Aptana is an IDE, I’m feeling a but overwhelmed – is it overkill?

Any tips on how to setup Aptana to work with wordpress, as well as any other dev tools that everyone is using? BTW, I’m looking for something Mac based.

(hope i’m posting this in the right forum)

    thanks!

  • I’m looking for a WYSIWYG theme creator/development software as well. If anyone knows of anything, please let me know. I looked at Artisteer, but it looks very limiting.
