wordpress site unresponsive

Hi,

I have recently moved this site to a new server, but for some reason am having issues. All the files have been transferred correctly including the database while also changing or addressing any relevant permissions. I spoke with my hosting provider and they advised for me to delete the index.html file. Yet upon doing so, receive an error message stating too many redirects. My provider then said this is a wordpress issue. Hence here i am, so this being the case how can i amend this error and get my site up and running again? Thank you, your insights are appreciated.
