WordPress Site/Dashboard not opening, keeps downloading php files instead

Looks like your index.php file is broken. Replace that from your last good backup and see what happens.

FTP into the host and find that single file in your backup then upload that into your webroot directory. It should be fairly easy to match up the stored files in the backup to what you have on your host. You may also use Bluehost’s File Manager.

Your webhost support should be able to help you with that if you are at all unsure.

I often use something called Total Commander on a Windows laptop or desktop to handle tasks like that. If you’ve ever used the old Norton Commander then Windows Commander will remind you of that with its twin directory ‘panes’.

If you have any misgivings about doing this then your webhost ‘looking over your shoulder’ will ease your worries.

Nevermind, I contacted Bluehost, and they were able to get into it and correct the hta access and php handler. It’s working now. Thank you!
