WordPress SEO prevents Simple Social Button Adder from displaying on some pages
-
This is actually good news for me.
I love the Simple Social Button Adder plugin. It’s such a clean and easy to use option for social sharing buttons. So I was disappointed when I couldn’t get it to display on the pages I wanted.
It would only display on single post pages. I also wanted it to display below the most recent post on the main blog page. Below that are four excerpted posts, but I only wanted the share buttons displaying on full length posts.
I tried everything I could and even started a thread here for help. Finally, on a deadline, I installed the AddThis plugin, only to encounter a similar problem. In the support forum for that plugin, I found a thread on problems with Yoast’s great WordPress SEO plugin. It was preventing the AddThis icons from displaying on certain pages.
When I deactivated the SEO plugin, the icons showed up. So I thought maybe the same would happen with the Simple Share plugin, and sure enough the icons now display properly.
In the AddThis forum, a fix was suggested, but I haven’t tried that yet. For now I’m just going to keep the SEO plugin deactivated until I have time to address that. But I’m so happy I can use the Simple Share Buttons plugin and wanted to post here in case others are experiencing the same problem.
It was suggested that this seems to be an issue with newer versions of WordPress, which I’m running. I’m also using a Genesis theme.
If anyone has successfully resolved this issue and is now running the SEO plugin without any conflicts, would you please post here?
Thanks!
