• Just got my wordpress up and running yesterday, and a friend of mine just created an account, and is waiting for an email containing a password.

Now, I do not remember setting up any email options other than putting the admin email in (which I recieved an email about him creating an account). So, how exactly is wordpress going to accomplish this task?

No, he has not gotten an email yet, and neither have I, as I created a test account.

  • It is instant. I would check your email account first to make sure it is working.

my email account? The only emails I have recieved were to my admin account stating that ‘user XXXX email XXXXX’ has created an account.

However, neither of us have recieved the email containing the temporary passwords. Do I have to create the mailbox for wordpress? I see that the admin email I got was sent from ‘[email protected]

Nope. Just created the [email protected] account in my email server, no difference. Do I need to download a plugin for this to work, or setup some SMTP options?

hmm, I think it may have it worked out. Went to the options and entered the information for the ‘sending email posts’ or some such. Now I’m recieving emails ??

I tried to register and then checked for lost password and received this message..

The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…

I would check your settings with your host.

Well yes, that would help too ??
