• I am running Latest wordpress on Windows Server 2012 R2 w/IIS8 (no I cannot switch to Linux before you ask).
Just recently it has started running like a dog and consuming all the CPU, I have tried every suggestion I can find to no avail.
I have had to limit the application pool to 1 CPU as a work around to stop wordpress killing the server.

All plugins and the theme and wordpress are up to date
This is a low traffic site, and there are not enough visitors to be causing a problem. With only 10 running requests under process requests, the CPU is at max. However if I block all incoming traffic, the problem goes away.

I have tried switching to one of the default themes
I have tried disabling all the plugins
I have tried enabling caching using both wordfence and w3 total cache
I have used P3 performance profiler, but this hasn’t really told me anything useful being as I have already tried disabling all plugins.

Anyone else got any suggestions ?

Examine the incoming traffic. What is it hitting?

Basically, your problem sounds like some kind of incoming traffic is hitting the crap out of the server and causing WordPress to run, perhaps needlessly.

The traffic is hitting normal pages on the site, there are no dodgy looking requests.
As I mentioned at the start, there is barely any traffic, it is sombing with only 10 requests.

Would definitely like to know the answer here, too; using Nginx and experiencing something similar (and I have tried the things lordsnake has).
