WordPress Rating Plugin That Suits Me

I am researching star rating plugins for wordpress. I have found several and GD Star Ratings seems to be a contender, but I fear that the complaints and $150 support will keep me away from using it for my needs as the project it is for is a non-profit project which generates zero revenue. I’m already providing server space, theme development and wp dev for this project and can’t afford to keep dumping money into it.

Here is how I would like to use the rating plugin…..

I have multiple custom post types + the traditional blog post type.

I would like to give users the ability to rate a post and have those ratings be specific to the custom post type, rather than a generalized rating system so that I can display a widget that shows the popular posts for “post type a” and “post type b” and of course, the “blog posts”.

Has anyone had any luck with a solution to this type of situation. I see plenty of threads on here about this plugin or that plugin not working with custom post types, or a plugin doesn’t have the ability to create multiple “sets” of ratings, etc.
